Inspection Officer Order issued to NorthRiver Midstream NEBC Connector GP Inc.

October 16, 2026

We issued an Inspection Officer Order to NorthRiver Midstream NEBC Connector GP Inc. (NorthRiver) after Inspection Officers identified inconsistent hearing protection practices and gaps in the assessment and control of workplace noise hazards. NorthRiver was unable to demonstrate that noise exposures had been adequately identified, assessed and managed, or that contractors were effectively supervised to ensure compliance with hearing protection requirements. Similar concerns had also been identified during a previous CER inspection.

The Inspection Officer Order requires NorthRiver to address deficiencies in its hearing conservation program by implementing corrective actions, establishing a compliant hearing conservation framework, defining noise exposure monitoring requirements, and verifying compliance through audits and inspections by October 30, 2026.

CER-regulated companies must comply with all health and safety requirements to make sure their staff are protected while carrying out their work.

We will continue to follow up with NorthRiver to ensure the company understands and complies with the Inspection Officer Order. Once the requirements are met, an update will be posted on the compliance and enforcement section of our website.
