2024–25 Annual Report of the Canada Energy Regulator – What the Future Holds
Looking ahead, we recognize that Canada’s energy landscape is changing quickly. Since our creation in 1959 as the National Energy Board, our core mandate has remained consistent: to prevent harm. We are committed to protecting people and the environment as the energy system changes, while continuing to be an effective, transparent, and trusted national energy regulator. With the 2024–2027 Strategic Plan as our roadmap, we will continue to regulate federal energy infrastructure with safety, transparency, and responsiveness at the forefront. Advancing Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples remains a key priority.
Our role remains clear: to ensure that energy development is safe, the environment is protected, and decision-making processes are transparent, efficient, flexible and predictable for all Canadians.
