NGTL GP Ltd., as general partner on behalf of NGTL Limited Partnership Grande Prairie Mainline Loop No. 3 - Colt Section

Project Background

On 12 December 2025, NGTL GP Ltd., as general partner on behalf of NGTL Limited Partnership (NGTL GP) filed a project notification for the Grande Prairie Mainline Loop No. 3 - Colt Section (Proposed Project). The Proposed Project consists of the installation of approximately 17.7 km of 48-inch diameter (NPS 48) new pipeline that loops the existing NGTL GP Grande Prairie Mainline (GPML) pipeline. The right-of-way (ROW) and associated temporary workspace (TWS) will be located entirely on Crown land located approximately 55 kilometres northwest of Edson, Alberta.

The Proposed Project will require the acquisition of approximately 35.1 hectares (ha) of new permanent Crown land rights. The Proposed Project will cross wetlands and watercourses with designated Species at Risk Act critical habitat for Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), Athabasca River populations, listed as endangered. The Proposed Project includes one horizontal directional drill crossing. Additional watercourses will be crossed by the pipeline route using conventional open-cut crossing methods. Workforce accommodations are expected to be required for the Proposed Project.

The Proposed Project is planned to start construction in September 2026, with an expected project-in-service date in March 2028.
