Project Background

NGTL GP Ltd., as general partner on behalf of NGTL Limited Partnership (NGTL GP), has filed an application for the Grande Prairie Mainline Loop (GPML) No. 3 – Greenview Section. The proposed project involves installation of approximately 15.4 km of NPS 48-inch pipe to loop the existing NGTL GP GPML pipeline system. The project will be located entirely on Crown Lands within the Municipal District of Greenview No. 16. It will extends from the existing valve site GPM80, located adjacent to NGTL GP’s Gold Creek Compressor Station within NE 26–067–05 W6M, approximately 33 km southeast of Grande Prairie, Alberta to a new tie–in location within NW 06–067–03 W4M near the existing valve site GPM75, approximately 44 km southeast of Grande Prairie, Alberta.

The project is expected to parallel existing linear disturbance whenever feasible (approximately 94 percent). It will require the acquisition of approximately 28.6 ha of new permanent land rights for the pipeline route, two valve sites, and access roads. Temporary workspace will also be required during construction. The project includes one proposed horizontal directional drill crossing, approximately 1.2 km in length, spanning the Smoky River, its tributaries, and McMillar Creek. Additional watercourses will be crossed using conventional trenched methods (i.e., isolated or open-cut). The preliminary design of the project includes the associated tie-ins, crossovers, and launcher and receiver barrels at both ends of the pipeline.

Project construction is planned to commence in October 2026, with an expected project-in-service date in April 2028.
