Trans Mountain Pipeline – ULC Mainline Optimization Project
Project Background
Trans Mountain Pipeline ULC, has filed an application for the Mainline Optimization Project. The proposed project involves 30 km of new mainline pipeline starting near Darfield, BC and ending near McLure, BC. The purpose of the proposed Project is to increase the capacity of the Trans Mountain Pipeline system (TMPL) Line 2 (Line 2). The project involves new mainline pipeline construction, deactivations, valve additions, 4 new pump stations and several updates, the installation of line 2 drag reducing agents and the construction of new transmission lines. The Project components are proposed primarily within or near the existing Trans Mountain Line 2 corridor, informed by hydraulic studies, constructability and to minimize disturbances.
Project construction is planned to commence in July 2027 with an expected project-in-service date of 31 December 2029.
