Letter of Direction issued to Midstream Energy Partners (Canada) Ltd.
October 8, 2025
The Commission of the CER has issued a Letter of Direction to Midstream Energy Partners (Canada) Ltd. (Midstream Energy) for failing to submit timely reports under the National Energy Board Export and Import Reporting Regulations (Reporting Regulations), as required by their export authorizations.
Companies are required to obtain an export authorization from the Commission for the exportation of crude oil and refined petroleum products, natural gas, natural gas liquids and electricity from Canada. The reporting requirements for the exportation of these products are set out in the Reporting Regulations. The data and reports published by the CER provide timely and relevant information on commodity imports and exports, energy supply, and sources.
Companies must meet the requirements of export authorizations granted by the Commission and the Reporting Regulations. We have the authority to take action to bring the company back into compliance if it does not report on time. Failing to maintain compliance could result in enforcement actions.
We will closely monitor Midstream Energy’s progress over the next few months.
