Safety Advisory on Damage Prevention

The CER has issued a Safety Advisory on damage prevention to all regulated companies. It also addresses important safety requirements for anyone working near pipelines.
Regulated companies are responsible for informing third-party workers and contractors of:
- potential hazards when working near the pipeline; and
- how to perform the work safely before work starts on a construction project.
Third parties, including contractors and subcontractors, must follow company instructions and safety practices while working around pipelines. They have the right to know how to perform the work safely.
Damage prevention to pipelines is a shared responsibility between the CER, pipeline companies and those living and working near pipelines.
